3 Year Old Program

A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart.
3 Year Old Pre-K Class

I believe that at 3 years old children need to learn life skills more than academics. We spend a lot of time in organized play teaching social skills such as sharing, taking turns, working together, following directions and learning school rules

We follow the NYS Common Core Standards for PRE-K. In literacy (ELA), we learn the letters in the alphabet, main focus being upper case. We learn to name and recognize the letters, to print the letters. We focus on one letter per week. The children will work on printing their first names.

In Math, we will learn to count to 30 by the end of the school year. We will learn the numbers 1-10 and be able to recognize the numbers and make sets to match each number. We also learn patterns, graphing and measurements.

We use the "Scholastic My Big World" (weekly reader series) as the basis for our science and social studies curriculum.

Our catholic identity is evident as soon as you enter our classroom by the way the children and staff treat each other with love, kindness and respect. Our children greet Jesus every morning during our morning meeting before we begin our prayer for the day. We use the religion series, "Stories of God's Love" to teach the children about God's love for them through both bible stories and everyday events.  The children are very proud to say the school prayers along with the students from K-6th.

We are very fortunate to be a part of the St. Rose of Lima School and Church family. We are included in many activities with the older students including, Reading Buddies, Bingo Buddies, the Pumpkin Run and the Science Fair.

St. Rose is a great place to start your child's faith and academic journey. Once you come and visit you will see that for yourself.
